St. Ives Methodist Church was established in 1815 and rebuilt in 1905 and recently celebrated
it's
100th centenary year. (See the History Page for more
information) We are situated on The Waits at the far end of the main shopping street, not far from
the All Saints Parish Church. It is right opposite the Great River Ouse and boats pull up
there in good weather. For Information about St. Ives, please remember to take a look at the
Official Town Web Site and A personal view by Philip
Grosset.
Our Church, recently refurbished, is flexible and has a calm atmosphere, with a large rose window. We are fully wheelchair accessible, with wheelchair accessible toilet, ramped access to Schoolroom Hall (new ramped fire exit) and Church building (via Lobby). We also have a small car park round the back, but there is a large Public Car Park nearby.

About 3 out of 4 services are led by preachers who work in the Huntingdon and St. Neots Circuit. The focus of such services is the 'word' or the sermon, based on the 'Word of God' given to us in the Christian Bible. Communion services are led by the minister or other ministers in the Huntingdon and St. Neots Circuit at least once a month. We seek to follow Jesus Christ as the one who was sent by God to reveal his nature and message to us. We believe he is God's Son and lives today through his followers.
FAIRTRADE - This is a Fairtrade Church and is part of a wider Fairtrade East Anglia District of Methodist Churches.
The minister, Rev. Hugh-Nigel Sheehan, is available to discuss baptisms, weddings, funerals and any other needs if you give him a call on 01480 462293 or e-mail
'It would be great to hear from anyone who has visited this site'.

The distinctiveness of Methodism is in the legacy of it's founder John Wesley and the hymns of his brother Charles. They were ordained priests in the Church of England in the 18th century. They were inspired to take the message of the gospel in word and action to all but especially the poor. Their work began a great revival and eventually separated from the Church of England and became the Methodist Church. There is now close co-operation between many of the churches.
John Wesley preaching at the Market Cross (Epworth Postcards, no.12)
It is still vital that we share the good news of Jesus Christ in words and in action.
This is an inclusive message:-
|
All can be saved
All know they can be saved
All can be saved to the uttermost. |

St. Ives Methodist Church
Vision and Mission Statement
The Church Fellowship, here in St. Ives, exists to proclaim God’s love so
that others may
be drawn to Christ.
Our aim is to be open by others by being open to Christ:
to break down any barriers that divide us
to promote fellowship regardless of age, sex or race
to find ways to share Christ in the community
to work with community groups and share resources we have
to create an atmosphere of love and acceptance for all ages.
Our aim is to create an atmosphere of loving encouragement within our
worship and all our work:
to draw on the variety of gifts and talents available
to build one another up in Christ
to be more open to His love, so that we may become one family.
In all this we seek to work in partnership with other Churches locally
and within the wider Methodist Church.
